What BisTrack's On-Premise Changes Mean for You

If you're running BisTrack on your own servers, you've probably already heard the news: Epicor is moving everything to the cloud. Here's the good news - this isn't happening overnight, so you've got time to consider your options.

The timeline
Epicor announced its final on-premises release schedule for BisTrack on 6th January 2026:
BisTrack UK 3.9 (2017): Active Support ends 31st December 2026, and Sustaining Support kicks in from 1st January 2027 - that's under six months away.
BisTrack Desktop: the final release (2026.2) lands around December 2026. Active Support runs through the end of 2028, with Sustaining Support starting January 2029.
BisTrack Web Browser & API: the final on-premises release (2028.1) is pencilled in for July 2028. Active Support continues to 30th June 2029, then moves to Sustaining Support that July.
What does "Sustaining Support" mean?
Sustaining Support doesn't mean your system stops working - your BisTrack setup will keep running just fine on day one, day one hundred, and likely well beyond.
What does change is the level of investment in the system. Once a product moves to Sustaining Support, Epicor stops building new features and stops releasing the regular hotfixes that come with active development. Tax rules change, compliance requirements get updated, and security standards keep moving forward - and because a system in Sustaining Support isn't being updated to keep pace with any of that, BisTrack risks falling behind the rules and standards it's meant to help you meet.
If you'd prefer to stay in the Epicor family, they've released a path for that: Ascend with Epicor, a migration programme that moves you onto Epicor Cloud. It's a good option if you want to stay put, though it's worth remembering it's Epicor's roadmap and Epicor's pricing, not an independent look at what's out there.
Questions to ask before you decide
Before committing to anything, run through a few questions first:
Is your current setup actually the right fit, or have you just been putting off a change because switching feels like a hassle?
What would a cloud migration really cost once you add up licences, implementation time, and the hours your team will lose along the way?
Does your next system need to be another big, general-purpose ERP, or would something built specifically for merchants serve you better day to day?

Now's a great time to explore your options
A deadline that's a couple of years out is actually a bit of a gift as it's close enough to take seriously, but far enough away that you can explore instead of settling for whatever's easiest.
If you've been running BisTrack for years, this is your moment to ask a bigger question: is a large, retrofitted ERP still the best fit, or would a platform built specifically for merchants serve your business better?
That's exactly the gap Merchanter fills. There's no legacy on-premises system to migrate away from here, just software built around how merchants really work, from day one.
